Nora
Nora asked Gene Luen Yang:

I've been teaching American Born Chinese in my HS lit classes for years. A small group just worked with it, and I saw what I have always seen: students from a range of immigrant backgrounds -- this time Latino, Eastern European and Middle Eastern -- all strongly relate to the identity issues in the text. How has it felt to see this book resonate so strongly across ethnic groups, and did you anticipate this?

Gene Luen Yang Thank you for using my book in your classroom! It's an honor. American Born Chinese is about the immigrant's kid's experience. Regardless of where our parents are from, the children of immigrants all go through similar identity struggles.
