I agree with Alice. This book will touch your human heart, no matter what you hold as a belief system.
Alice Wheeler
Not at all - there are some references to Christianity, but it is not religious in nature, much more a study of the human experience.
Val
Maybe not but it sure helps. On the other hand, for a Christian professor, she sure does a LOT of whining and criticizing. A total hypocrite. I was totally unimpressed with her brand of "Christianity". Which becomes almost a focal point toward the end of the book.
Francesca Pohlman
No. If anything, Kate Bowler goes against the grain of typical Christianity with a vulnerable, authentic perspective on how to live when faced with a seemingly unbearable diagnosis.
Amanda
I would say, you would maybe enjoy this more if you are religious. The religious themes and references are significant throughout the book. Though... as noted in my review, I don't imagine many people actually enjoying this book. It is more theoretical, yet realistic. Not at all aspirational, inspirational or uplifting.
