Brian Staveley:
Cheeky second question: I love writing stories. However, whenever it comes time for simple things like birthday cards (or speeches), the best I can come up with is 'Dear X, Happy birthday, from me', so my partner writes them. Is there any particular style of writing that you cannot stand and actively avoid?

Yes! As I mentioned below, I used to teach high school, and I absolutely loathed writing the end-of-semester progress reports. Maybe you've seen the sort of thing: "Caleb was a delight to have in class this semester. Although his written work is an unmitigated shitshow of grammatical monstrosity and cliche, as a participant in daily discussion, he is both obtuse and brutal..."

Epic stories so far sir. I very much look forward to #3. I originally purchased this book because I loved the cover art and thought it would be the type of book I liked. I was not disappointed. Q.- Do you get a say in what goes on the cover of your book and do you think the covers for your books are a good representation of your story? Also how important do you think cover art is to new authors? Any advice?

I am a huge fan of your work. I have been wondering about what modern day ethnicities would correspond to the main characters, particularly the Annurians. The Urghul are described as being roughly Northern European (light hair/skin/eyes). In regards to the main characters, the covers depict them as being Asian, maybe Japanese. In the book, however, they are described as having a dark complexion. What is your vision?
