Yes, but I would suggest reading The Circle, which is a great book. If not, at least watch the movie so you have some frame of reference to work from.

You 100% do not need to even know that The Circle exists to read and enjoy this book. Having read that book might enhance your "enjoyment" of this book, a little, but not necessary at all.

Unlike most sequels, you don't get a lot from having read the first book. The recurring characters feel more like Easter eggs than necessary elements.

I read it as a standalone, not even realizing it was sort of a sequel to The Circle, and it was very easy to understand. It wasn't until I read a review that I realized one of the main characters was from The Circle.

there's some characters that return from the first novel, but it can definitely be read stand alone
