Alafair Burke asked Mary Higgins Clark:

4. I am incredibly honored to be your first co-author other than your talented and beloved daughter, Carol. How did you go about choosing a collaborator for the "Under Suspicion" series? And how would you compare the process of co-authoring to writing exclusively on your own?

Mary Higgins Clark I was given the books of four authors. I read them very, very carefully, and I immediately sensed that Alafair and I were in the same vein, and it would be very smooth to work with her.

When I am on my own, I am creating situations, creating characters, getting the feel of the people, and getting to know if I want to make a trip with them. While working with Alafair, we had the back-and-forth of who these people are, what is their relationship to each other, and of course, the basic plot. We were completely in tune, and I think the book shows it!
