Hi Mr. Modesitt! I'm a big fan and have read several of your Imager series novels. I particularly enjoyed the unique social and political systems that you introduce in those novels and how, in many ways, they effect almost everything that happens. The imager's "magic" is also a huge draw as well. Given this, do you think I would enjoy the Saga of Recluse series?

Most readers who enjoy one of my fantasy series enjoy another, and from the feedback I've gotten from readers, most readers of the Recluce Saga enjoy the Imager Portfolio books, and most readers of the Imager Portfolio enjoy the Recluce books. But I can't predict individual tastes... if I could, I'd have another career as a most successful sales manager of a multi-billion dollar corporation.

I am a huge fan of your Imager Portfolio! I've re-read the first three books many times, and every time I do, I notice new things. It was/is a huge influence on me and I've recommended your books to many people. I have two questions in particular: 1) How did you come up with the character of Rhenn? 2) How do you decide how characters will act in ethical dilemmas?

I love your writing, I have many of your books! I love the Corean Chronicles! Did you intend to keep us 'in the dark' to the reasons why Dainyl did the things he did? I felt he had an understanding on how the world worked that wasn't shared, he acted on intuition, but didn't go back to analyse what was going on. Do you intentionally just tell the story/actions and allow us to fill in what motivates a character?
