I started out with some musicians and actors that I myself love, and as I got to know Laurel and her story, I discovered others who made sense within the context of the narrative. Ultimately, I chose the celebrities that Laurel writes to for the ways that they each speak to her particular struggles and triumphs, and those of her friends and family.
