Jes asked Denise Jaden:

Hi! I've just found your book and I find Loann relatable, in the sense of cooler older sister, when I have friends I tend to keep them close (and sometimes am a little clingy-), feeling left out, and loving photography. To get to my question, how did you come up with Loann's character? And the entire plot? Have a nice day!

Denise Jaden Hi Jes! Loann is a little piece of me. I don't have a sister, so not in that sense, although I have always wanted one. But Loann takes some of her insecurity and humor, and reliance on good friends from me. As far as the plot goes, a number of years ago, I was living with a girl who suffered from a severe eating disorder. I desperately wanted to do or say something to help, but it seemed anything I said or did only sent her into a tailspin. This book was originally written as a cathartic piece for myself, to try and understand not only her but myself. I decided to turn it into a published book when a friend suggested it might speak to others.
