When my father died my mother and I was sorting through a box of black & white photos and one showed an elegant image of a lady in a blood-red dress. As I reached for the photo my mother pulled it away and stuck it at the bottom of the box. My Aunt had mentioned the lady in red before. The first love of my father's? my Aunt believed. A disgraced woman, not good enough. But why was the photo in the box? And why did my mother go white at its appearance.
