Goodreads asked Julian Worker:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Julian Worker I travelled the same route into work everyday on my motorbike. I took a shortcut up a side road that culminated at the brow of a hill. I had to brake halfway up the hill to come to a halt at the right place. I had to wait several minutes for a suitable gap in the traffic. There were always cars parked on the opposite of the road from the junction. On the day my brake line snapped halfway up the hill, and I didn't stop and did an understated impression of Evel Knievel, why were there no cars coming along the busy road and why were no cars parked on the opposite side of the road? I landed in the gutter and dawdled home at 10mph thanking my lucky stars for the unusual traffic behaviour.
