Goodreads asked Ellie Marney:

What mystery in your own life could be a plot for a book?

Ellie Marney Probably the mystery in my own life is...how I ended up becoming a writer! I come from a working-class background - my father was a milkman, and later, a prison guard, and my mother was a homemaker - and 'Author' was a job I didn't consider available to me when I was growing up, even though I wrote all the time (on the bus on the way to school, during classes and lunch breaks...basically whenever I could). I never really hit my stride with writing until I was in my late thirties. I guess that's one of the best things about writing - that you can start at any age, and expand beyond your personal background.
