What was the inspiration behind Surfer Villager?

Dr. Block When I wrote the first book in 2015, I wanted to write a series about a villager, but wanted it to be something totally different from what other series existed at that time. --- I've been a surfer since I was a child, so I thought it would be cool to have a series about a villager who learns what surfing is and then tries to make it exist in Minecraft. (Obviously, though, the series has morphed into something very different now.)
