Hi, I read Chains and was wondering were you ever nervous about writing historical fiction and messing something up time wise or whatnot? Also how much research do you have to do to write historical fiction?

I am an obsessive researcher and I always have four academic historians read through my books to make sure I got the history right. I'd say at least a year of research goes into each one of my historical novels. To be honest, the research is my favorite part!

In 2012(?), I read your book Yellow Fever. My teacher said to send an email to you and ask questions. My friend and I said cruel things about you and your mother. You replied back to our email and stated that your mother had died. This has resonated with me, and I wanted to apologize for my rude behavior. I am now a 9th grader who has a deep love and appreciation for writing. Good luck in all of your future endeavors.

I work in a large public high school in Brooklyn, NY. We have many English Language learners at varying levels of proficiency in our student population. There are some classes that are reading your novel, "Fever 1793." We are looking for some copies in Spanish. I cannot find any copies for under $100 per copy. Do you know of a publisher or other source that I can contact to acquire some Spanish language copies?
