One of the brothers (Benkai) is gay, but it's just a really brief mention. "... flush in her cheeks or infatuated smile... signs I’d noticed in the girls flirting with Yotan or the boys who sought attention from Benkai."
In the second book it was said that Benkai offered to marry the khagan's nephew—not niece—so I think that's confirmation enough that he's gay. But again the brothers are not prominent characters even though the book centers around Shiori's family dynamic.
I liked this duology but it's not going to be my first choice for lgbtq rep, although I still recommend it if you like East Asian-inspired fantasy :)

uhh i think Benkai is gay. This is not given clearly but just a hint is mentioned. On page 248 of the library binding copy there is a line that says " the boys who sought attention from Benkai"
