Kate asked:

Did anyone think Alison K was based on anyone in real life? My mind kept going to Alison Krauss but only because of the name. I also couldn't figure out how old she was. At one point it said she could be Jack's older sister, but she seemed to act like someone quite a bit older than him at times. I kept picturing her in her early 40s even though I think she was meant to be late 20s or early 30s.

Abigail Boatwright I thought of Allison Krauss too, but she might be too old for this character.
Lisa J I immediately went to musician Alison Krauss, too. She, in fact, is from North Carolina --by way of Illinois-- and is a flyfisher. I can only picture Heller's character as the artist now (in real life Ms. K is 50)!

Claudia I interpreted the line about, "I am old enough to be your older sister," as a flirty remark from AK to Jack. I also assumed she was at least late-30s or 40, which would make their age gap 12-15 years or so (unusual, but not eyebrow-raising.)
