So can I talk about the entire premise upon which the plot hinges, that Anna/Diana decides at all costs to protect "her" story... Once Crib was out and no one had any idea who she was or her connection, why bother to chase down Jake at all? And then, why send anonymous notes and simultaneously woo him and marry him? There were faster ways to kill/ruin him.

She simultaneously marries Jake and sends the accusatory notes to set up his "suicide," & then step in as his widow to inherit everything.
