Ali It didn’t say specifically, but I I think Angela was is such a bad state of mind and also drunk when Theo refused to follow her all the way upstairs to see her evidence, that she did just take a tumble and it truly was just an accident. Or at least that was my interpretation
Judith Angela fell. She was drinking & accidentally tripped on the loose rug at the top of the stairs. (Daniel later did the same thing carrying out his belongings.) Theo didn't kill Angela...he left her house in disgust rather than follow her upstairs to presumably see more of Daniel's drawings. He even thought back to once loving her as a friend & sister as his anger turned toward Daniel.
