When, how, and why did you decide to become a writer?

L.A. Wasielewski I started by writing fanfic! In high school, waaaay before I even knew fanfic was a thing, I wrote a story about my favorite video game (Phantasy Star IV) just because I wanted to make my own story. It wasn't until I was in college, and had access to the new-fangled "internet" (lol) that I realized people were doing what I was doing! Fast forward 10 years after that and I was a new mom and needed a creative outlet to break up my days of endless toddler-wrangling, so I decided to write fanfic again. Final Fantasy VIII, Star Trek AOS, Final Fantasy XV, and Fallout. I gathered quite a following on my stories and I started to think, "hey, maybe I could do some original work!" So...I did!

And now I have three published books!
