I miss them too. Mac is probably my favorite character to write. But I don't plan any new Life Lessons novels soon. I do hope to come back to them years down the road, when the kids are older. (Mac with a teenage daughter?) And I'm not completely ruling out a short story or something. But no new novels for a while :(
The problem is that these books were always meant to be both police procedural mystery and relationship romance in a balanced and blended way. That means Tony had to get involved in one of Mac's murder cases, so the two story lines could come together. And four murders are as many as any mild-mannered teacher can plausibly fall into. I try to keep my writing feeling real. (I already have reviews saying "If I was a friend of Tony's, I'd move." LOL He does know too many murdered people.)
I'm starting work on a new series, mystery with a touch of paranormal, and I hope to write other books in different genres. With luck, I will write new characters you also come to love. Thanks for the question.

Hi. I am a volunteer with the DC Peace Center Books to Prisoners project. We get requests for gay romance/crime fiction that we often cannot fill as all of our books are donated. I wonder if you would be willing to donate some of your books to our good cause? Prisoners share their books so there is the potential to win over a rather sizable following. We would be so grateful. nlasner@rcn.com. dcbookstoprisoners.org
