I totally got why he mentioned some of the people going through doors and arriving in new places (Australia, Japan, etc.) but near the very end he spends several pages describing the life of a mute maid in Morocco who does NOT make use of the doors. At the risk of sounding dense, could someone explain the point of that passage? It didn't seem connected to the rest of the story. Anyone else feel that way?
