Kim (binge reading to avoid reality and the fall of US democracy) asked this question about What Strange Paradise:
I was a little confused by the ending of the book. I thought Amir and Vanna got on to the powerboat heading to the mainland. I felt hope for them - for Amir - "He waits on home." Then the final chapter has a child lying on the shore who appears to be dead. This child is wearing a bell-shaped locket. Just as Amir had. Is this a different child who just happens to be wearing a bell-shaped locket? Or is this Amir?
