I actually have already done that, Vaishnavi. In Here be Dragons, I cover John's entire reign. Of course he had to share top billing with his Welsh son-in-law, Llywelyn, and his daughter Joanna, and he'd probably have preferred to hold center stage all alone--none of the Angevins were shrinking violets, were they? I actually love writing about John, but if I were to write a novel that focused only upon him, I'd be repeating much that was already published in Dragons. And I'm not sure how my publisher would feel about recycling chapters! One of the reasons why I'd like to resume doing the mysteries is that I could then write more about John. The characters with some dark corners in their souls are usually the most fun to write about.
