i LOVE hour of the witch. what are your 3 favorite historical fiction books you have ever written (other than this one?) this was my first of yours and i am HOOKED!!!!

Chris Bohjalian Thank you so much, Sheila. Really honored. I have only written four novels (so far) that are historical fiction:

Skeletons at the Feast (2008)
The Sandcastle Girls (2012)
The Light in the Ruins (2013)
Hour of the Witch (2021)

In truth, I am very proud of all of them. I have written some terrible books, but I don't put these four in that group.

There is no way I could pick one favorite author. But I agree it is a fun question. Just wanted to let you know you are one of my favorites. I'm in a blizzard in the NEK (Barton.) So my question to you is, out of all your novels that take place in VT, which is your favorite? Also, out of Howard Frank Mosher's work (so very sad that we lost him), which is your favorite of his.

Were you aware that you named one of the trafficked women Crystal which was the name of the girl from Burlington Vt ,Christal Jones, who was murdered in NYC while working as a prostitute? I immediately went online to BFP article by Sam Hemingway to confirm my recollection. (I have relocated to SC. Maybe I will see you in Savannah in Feb)
