Hello Mr Delaney. First of all, I thought the spook's apprentice was amazing. That aside, I always wondered what colour Tom's hair was (I imagined it was brown while Alice's hair was black). This might be a trivial question but what colour is Tom's hair?

Joseph Delaney I think that you are spot on with that! Yes, I know Tom’s hair is brown and Alice’s is very dark – as black as hair can get. But as you will be aware, I am minimal in terms of both human and geographical description. I prefer to let readers use their own imaginations and conjure the images that they prefer. That is why books are so much better than films. All readers have a slightly different experience.

I have two questions! 1) I think it was mentioned that Mam had a child with Zeus that lived, I may be wrong as it is a long while since I read the wardstone books, so could there be a meeting between Tom and this half sibling? I always assumed it was going to be Pan the old god. 2) Does the rest of Tom’s family have the Lamia abilities like Tom, if so why didn’t Jack’s abilities work in the 3rd book? Thanks.
