It is not a stand alone but part of a series. I personally think that you should read the other books in this series before you read this one. Otherwise you might not fully understand the backstories of the characters in this book. The first four books are about Feyre and this one is about her sister Nesta. So you get a different point of view in this book and a different storyline. Things that happened in the previous books are mentioned quite often and I think that you will understand everything better by reading all the books.
