I am wondering if this book might be appropriate for an advanced, rising-8th-grade (13 year-old) reader? I have liked several of Kate Quinn's books a lot, and I will definitely read this one! I am considering sharing this title with a former student of mine who did a fabulous project on women cryptographers during WWII this year!

The first chapters are really slow, lots of social fluff, most 8th graders would lose interest right there. Also, the code-breaking is technical, the characters are all adults, & there's a lot of sex (not too graphic, but kind of a warped view of it for a young person.) Definitely read it yourself first, & think like a parent before you recommend it to a student.

I think yes. Long and detailed but features strong female characters and banding together and good ending.
