Goodreads asked H. Paul Honsinger:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

H. Paul Honsinger First, I recognize that, with me, writer's block is a sign of one of two things. 1. That I have taken a misstep in the development of my story and I need to go back to do something different. In that case, I re-wind the tape, so to speak, and hit the play button again and often zoom right past the block. Or, 2. I'm mentally tired and need to rest and recharge. Maybe watch a movie or a military documentary. Have a good meal, get a good night's rest, and get a start again in the morning. The important thing is not to force it. The creative process has its own schedule and you have to let it drive you rather than you driving it.
