it's a pretty well trod literary trope. given that the derogatory word for woman is also the word for a dog, many authors have played with dogs/transformations into dogs as a metaphor for misogynistic expectations or intimate violence. you could say that Dogs: A Modern Bestiary by Rebecca Brown predated both these works, but I don't think any of the three of them are going for the same thing. singling out transformation fiction of any kind and saying it's ripping off another tranformation book is like saying everything that features a time loop is ripping off groundhog day. it's just the subgenre.
