Who took care of Martha after Aliena's baby was born and Alfred left for Shiring? Aliena left Kingsbridge to find Jack in France/Spain, but there's no mention of Martha. She would've been only 13/14 by this point (ca. 1143), and Alfred was her only remaining blood relative (besides Jonathan). Ellen was alive, but she was an outlaw. Did Martha just keep living in Alfred/Aliena's old house alone?

Jay Tate Interesting. Martha had a servant living with her after Aliena moved back to Richard's house. So Martha was living off Alfred's wages, but Alfred left. You raise a very good question. Martha's character was kind of left out of the finish.
