Goodreads asked Nolan Thomas:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Nolan Thomas It wasn't so much an idea for a book as it was an idea for a villain. One of the best, if not the best, villain I've ever encountered was Dr. Mark Ahriman in Dean Koontz's False Memory. This character is despicable and chilling, which elevated the intensity of the suspense in that book. Dr. Ahriman seems an impossible adversary to defeat. Of course, it's Dean Koontz, so all the characters in the book were so well crafted and memorable, with a great story. So I began constructing Nika Rolinska, and the story formed from her.
