Is this appropriate for a 13 year old? Doesn't have to be totally free of bad language/difficult themes, just looking for something that isn't super sexy.

Chaleise As long as the 13-year-old is relatively mature, this book would be fine. There is a comment about shaving the male genital area as well as subjects including the death of a parent, drug addiction, and same-sex marriage. None of these subjects was a primary focus. They were mentioned in a matter-of-fact manner as events that shaped a character. The characters are very well developed!!

Dea I haven't read it yet, but our school district has chosen it as a quiz bowl competition book for high school, which would be ninth through twelfth grades. (I volunteer for the competitions, so I will be reading it. I'll try to remember to update.)
