In your opinion could Eric be a good monarch he stopped trying to pawn it off on others? Another thing that’s been bothering me since the end of book one was the revelation that Travis had died waiting on Eric. Which just crushed my soul in that moment. Sure we only knew him for a short period of time but it was an important time all the same. So will Eric ever fulfil his promise and turn Travis in the future?

Garon Whited Yes, I think Eric could be a good monarch--but it depends largely on how you define a "good monarch." If you mean that the nation is run efficiently and fairly, yes. If the citizens are cared for under a functional system of justice, yes. If you mean the taxes and services of government are balanced, yes.
As for Travis, Eric will be seeing him again. But I don't think Eric promised to turn Travis.
