Alexfig asked:

Is this book like the movie of black hawk down?

Dave Mccormick Not particularly. IMO, the book is much more compelling than the movie and is does a far better job of describing the events, the thoughts and the sheer chaos of what happened. The book is a must read, the movie is interesting but not a must watch.
Danita L The book, Black Hawk Down was written in 1999. The movie, Black Hawk Down was adapted from this book in 2001.

Both are well received. But a movie can only cover so much in two and a half hours. The movie is dramatic with a music score that brings out the tragedy of what happens. It is powerful and watching the movie leaves you in tears.

The book covers the battles and events with such force that grinding your teeth is part of reading the book.

Both are explicit and compelling in telling the story of an event that should not have happened. In short, the battle was a sh*t-storm.
Thomas Pulaski No, it's a little different. As always, Hollywood made some changes., I met one of the pilots about 10 years ago, he said the book took a lot of liberties with the truth. Still a good read though!
JSNL It is like the movie but much more complete : the personal stories and the background of the country and the US & UN involvement during their period. I rate the book higher than the movie. But reading will cost you more than 2,5 hours ;)
Charles Osuagwu The book is more than the movie. As someone who followed the even live on TV, every term used in this book to describe the event seem to have ten times it weight. Maybe if this book was a thriller I could have enjoyed it more.
Robby Marchesiello Yes. They are both based on the same story/event.
