Do you think the author intended the big reveal / twist to be so obvious? I don’t think I’ve ever figured ‘it’ out so early in a book, so I have to assume that this was intentional. (Still a good read either way.j

Maybe some are reading this novel purely as a a whodunit, rather than the story of a man who is tortured by what he's done and an examination of who owns a story...if anyone. That's what made it intriguing for me. (less)
