Goodreads asked Rett MacPherson:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Rett MacPherson I don't really get write's block while writing a book. If I do, it's usually because the plot isn't holding together and I need to go back and examine what's going on. Usually once I start a book, if I make it past the fourth chapter, I'm good to go. However, what I suffer from is sort of a "block" in between books. That can last for months. I try to read as much as possible during those blocks, because usually that will help to start the juices flowing. And I still try to write, even if it's just a blog entry or long, rambling emails to friends. Because it still keeps me in the habit of producing words.
