Denny S. Bryce Funny, but it happened a few years ago and in stages—I was a finalist in a national contest (this is back when I was writing romance), and at the national conference, I won first place in the romantic suspense category in front of 2000 people in a ballroom where I ran to the stage and accepted my award. This happened in 2014, and my debut novel was released this year, 2021, and is historical fiction. But that win convinced me that with patience, I could make this happen because I am a writer:).
