I've always liked Michael Lewis' books...but reading the description is causing me to wonder if this is simply a Trump bashing book? I would hope he's above using his writing as a political tool...I don't recall him getting into politics in his previous books...is this a book about the medical side of the pandemic or a political book on Trump's handling of it?

This book is not a partisan hit job. Nor is it a lot about the 45th president. Trump is very rarely mentioned by name. The attacks of the book are mostly about how we have built organizations that are excellent for studying "what happened" and publishing papers, but are incapable of real time response.

Trump inherited a broken CDC. It wasn't and isn't the Center for Disease Control. It is the Center for Disease Reporting. Nothing more. Rather than fixing it, he continued using a broken instrument that could have and should have saved thousands of lives. But chose not to.
Don't read it at your own peril.

This is very nuanced Trump bashing. It bashes poor governance and narrow shortsightedness.
