Hi Mariia. What a lovely question! I know exactly what you mean. I think the first time I experienced that feeling I was nineteen. I'd followed a bold (crazy?) instinct to send a poem to Cosmopolitan Magazine (which actually published poems occasionally then, if you can believe...). Anyway, they actually TOOK my poem and sent me a check for something like seventy-five dollars. I almost couldn't cash it, I was so excited. If I had known then my next significant publication would take another decade of hard work I probably would have run screaming, but there you have it. Cheers and best, Paula

Hello Paula, I just saw you Authors In April. I was so engrossed your in story and I just loved The Paris Wife but my favorite was Circling the Sun (I've read it twice). I don't really have a question but a thought. Back in that era if a man or a woman was truly unhappy the sometimes took left their respective families to start anew. Have you ever thought about a story like that? How do you pick your subjects?
