Stephen added to the dedication on the back so it was from him to Armand Gamache, his ersatz son.

The small watercolor painting was from Arlette to Stephen, but Arlette knew Stephen under the pseudonym Armand. Arlette signed it using two lines:

1)For Armand,

2) With love.

***Stephen changed the inscription so it meant it was from him (Stephen/aka Armand) to Armand Gamache, his "son."

1)For Armand, my son,

2) With love.
