Sorry, but he has pretty much no redeeming qualities (Other than ambition? The underdog factor of being the bastard?). It is one thing to try to get people killed, but quite another to convince your unsuspecting, good-hearted family that their supposed loved ones truly despise and plot against them, and do so without any feeling of guilt. Edmund's existence is very depressing, I'm afraid.
I suppose I should say "spoiler alert" but I recommend reading a detailed synopsis of every Shakespeare play before reading/viewing the actual play, so...(less)
