Julia
Julia asked Jane H. Wood:

I’ve been writing a book myself. How do you come up with new ideas when your mind goes blank?

Jane H. Wood Hi Julia,
Thank you for your question.
I understand your frustrations when you are happily writing your book, and suddenly your mind inexplicably goes blank and the ideas stop flowing.
You could be experiencing 'writers block'?
Now this condition isn't alien to me so I know how it feels, and I can assure you it will pass.
Some authors might tell you to work through it and keep writing. This is forced creativity, which in my opinion will only lead to the delete button.
My advice would be to, have a break. Get up and do something entirely different for a while. Come back when you feel better and then read your notes or the rough draft you have already written outlining your story. You will be surprised how much this helps, and gets your mind refocused and the words will come flowing back. Connect with your characters, 'see' them in action with your other characters and your protagonist in the story. Play the scenario in your head scene by scene until you feel you are on the right track and you can go forward with your manuscript.
Have fun and see how it goes. Good Luck, Julia. From Jane wood.
