Hi Nick, the Band is one of my favourite ongoing series! I know you've said that Saga and Fable are heavily based off 70s and 80s rock bands but whick bands in particular? I always think Saga give off a Rolling Stones vibe

Hi Sam,
The Rolling Stones were definitely an inspiration for Saga, though I think Led Zeppelin was probably more so. While they aren't inspired entirely by any one band, Zeppelin comes close. On my playlist for the book, the first few times the band is all together are accompanied by their music, namely Kashmir (when they walk into the Maxithon) and When the Levee Breaks (when they walk five abreast up the hill to Matrick' s house).
As for Fable, there's a few. Guns n' Roses is the most obvious example of a self-destructive 80s band, with groups like Van Halen and Motley Cru not far behind. When it came to how they acted in public and their generally abrasive personas (especially Rose's), I used those bands as a reference.
However, Rose and Freecloud's relationship is based largely on that of Pat Benetar and her lead guitarist, Neil Giraldo, who were (and still are) madly in love.
Thanks for the question!

Dear Nick, I read KotW last april and it became one of my favorite books, I just started Bloody Rose (in English, because it hasn't been translated in Italian yet). I also "forced" my boyfriend to read KotW and he loved it!! (so it's not really forcing right?) He often tells me:"Oh the Saga... I miss them!" and I feel the same. Will KotW be made into a movie o tv series? much love from Giorgia and Matteo
