Hi Jay! What is your biggest challenge being a middle school ELA & Creative Writing teacher?

Jay DeMoir The biggest challenge would have to be implementing autonomy and creative individual expression while also following a state mandated curriculum that often times limits a child's opportunity to develop their own writing voice. But I try my best to nurture that gift in them whenever possible. With the pandemic, the biggest challenge has been teaching pupils virtually and trying to keep them both engaged and in good spirits while striving towards quarterly goals.
