Suwanthi Kudaliyanage asked this question about Wild Sign (Alpha & Omega, #6):
Is anyone else disappointed that Bran seems to now be in love with Leah? It was always implied in previous books that though he'd mated her, he didn't love her as he still loved his first mate, Charles mother. But Wild Sign got me thinking that Charles could probably move on from Anna too. Kind of ruins that wild, passionate love I thought the MCS had

Blue Jay Woman chose her child over her own life. Leah made the heartbreaking decision to kill her own child and live. Yes, circumstances where different, but Bran must have a lot of anger towards Blue Jay Woman. Leah's strength of will probably soothes a great deal of that anxiety for him.

One of thing I find interesting with this world is that mating is not "one true love" (ie. Christy and Adam). I really like the idea their complex love is rooted in respect and twisted by guilt (Bran) and feeling pitiful/unloved (Leah). Leah's cruel yes, but come on, keeping the mating bond closed? That's just as bad. And don't get me started on the soft spot Bran has for Mercy. Shame on Bran and Leah both, but it looks like steps are being taken to untangle it. (less)
