The girl on the train is a story about an alcoholic named Rachel who goes by the 8.04 commuter train everyday just so that she can have a peek into the house that is seen when the train stops at the signal. She sees Jess and Jason (which is what she named them) and wishes she could live their life. At one point she seems almost like a stalker, obsessed by their whereabouts. The story takes a turn when Megan (Jess) goes missing. She goes missing right after Rachel had seen her kissing another man. This incident has her plunging herself into the lives of Megan and Scott (Jess and Jason) while having to deal with her Ex-husband (Tom) and his current wife (Anna).
