Hi Megan! I wanted to ask whether you do any research for any of your books, in terms of building the characters. I felt Addy, Devon and Gabby often show these silent, illusive traits of something more sinister and psychotic lurking in them. Was there any kind of research that went into this, e.g. looking at psychopathy within girls? Your books do a great job portraying this underlying darkness in them, either way!

Thank you so much! I do read a lot about psychology, but I can't say I ever consciously use it in my books. It's more instinctual. I guess, at heart, I think we'd all probably sound like psychopaths if our private thoughts were made public! ;-) And when we're in our teens, we're still figuring out so much, so our brains are even more knotted, murky places.

Megan, I love the way you portray teenage girls and I was wondering what your inspiration is behind your teenage girl characters and why you choose to write about them? The stories can be dark and mysterious and their relationships with adults can be complicated to say the least. I'm wondering what draws you to these types of dynamics?

Prep school, cheer, gymnastics, now ballet - any chance we'll get a horse girl book from you someday? Because it would fit right into your wheelhouse. Potentially devastating injuries, cruel helicopter moms and catty, overprivileged girls (and occasionally other genders but more popular with girls) with eating disorders.
