Are you going to sue Dabel Brothers for what they did with the Kickstarter for the Death of Dulgath graphic novel (i.e. - embezzling people's money, and besmirching your good name in the process)?? Most of us understand it is exactly 0% your fault, but there will always be naive people, who won't; and that's just not fair to you, as you have always been so incredibly loyal to your readers. I think you should sue them.

You can't sue a company that no longer exists. FWIW - I don't think they had nefarious intentions. In other words, I don't think they set out to, as you put it "embezzle people's money." I think what happened is they bit off more than they could chew and got in over their heads. They had decent intentions and the stuff I saw was well executed -but graphic novels are BIG projects and at the end of the day, they went out of business before they got the project finished.
I don't think my name is besmirched - I think everyone understands that if I had collected the Kickstarter money I would have refunded it, but I can't refund what I didn't receive -- and I do think they refunded a lot of the orders.
Don't get me wrong. I feel terrible for what happened, and while I won't make any public announcements, I do have another publishing company interested in the project and instead of getting an advance, I've asked them to use those funds to "make whole" the people from the prior Kickstarter instead. I basically won't take a cent of profit until the prior Kickstarter people get what they ordered. But...until that project is 100% created and availalable for shipping I don't want to make any promises about deliverables. But it does at least let you know what we are trying to do.

Michael J. Sullivan:
Hi Michael. I just finished Age of Myth (the first of your books that I've read), and I absolutely loved it! I wanted to start reading Theft of Swords, but I understand that the characters in your Legends of the First Empire series are referenced as legends in the Riyria Revelations and Chronicles series. Will I get any Legends of the First Empire series spoilers if I read the Riyria series books?

Michael J. Sullivan:
I have read in interviews that you wrote 10 novels before you started working on Riyria. I'm curious to know if you have any intentions to ever publish those works, or if they will remain unread by the public as you develop new worlds to work in? BTW, what happened to the 'stache? It changed your look from "scholarly and somewhat British" to more of a "guy next door" vibe. :)
