Goodreads asked Thurman P. Banks Jr.:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Thurman P. Banks Jr. Don't listen to anyone elses advice on writing, not even mine. Don't look for acknowledgement. Writers can be known to eat their own young. Even I always joke and say that I would rather read dead authors. That way if I love their work I don't have to deal with the jealousy. If I hate it, I don't have to feel the remorse of criticizing. Just do it for you without barriers. Walls are the death of creativity. If you want to be edgy, be edgy. It is your work, your creation. People will always nitpick and criticize, don't let reviews bother you. Quite often, in my experience, I have found that reviews say far more about the reader than they ever do about the book.
