(view spoiler)[Wow. Lots of stuff.
There is a sequel to Static Mayhem currently in its third draft, called Mayhem’s Children. It takes place eight years after the original. Honestly, I think that one is my favorite of what I’ve written so far, though it still needs some polish. A final book (working title Mayhem Three – although not because it is the third book – which it won’t be anyway – see below) is currently in outline form. I am also doing a rewrite of the first book, to fix a lot of the rookie mistakes and expand the character of Dorothy, who figures prominently in the sequel. When that’s done, the original novel will be split into two books, so Mayhem will eventually be a four book series. [Edit: The rewrite of Static Mayhem is finished, and the first section is now its own novel, titled Prelude to Mayhem. Those two books and Mayhem's Children have all been accepted for publication, and will be released over the next two years. The book I originally called Mayhem Three is now called Mayhem's Reign, and I am about 25% of the way into the first draft.]
I have the outline and first few chapters to a companion book to Unhappenings. Though I never intended to write a sequel, one of my beta readers pointed out that there is an entire story still left untold in the first book, specifically about where Athena was between visits. I am super excited about this one. It’s going to have a much darker premise, which I am trying to balance by making the tone lighter. Here’s hoping that works.
There is a novel about the robot apocalypse called Singularity that is currently an outline and about half a dozen chapters. I backed off of that one when I saw another book by a better-known author that seemed to have a similar premise. Having read that book, I now know it is nothing like what I was writing, so I will probably get back to that sometime soon.
And on the horizon, there is a four-book YA Space Opera series called Shrew that I have spinning around in my head. The first book is outlined and the other three are mapped out in broad terms. I am very excited about this one, but there is too much other stuff ahead of it for now. But someday, for sure. (hide spoiler)]
