This seems very similar to The Phone Booth in Mr. Hirota's Garden - they're inspired by the same real-life art installation. Is it TOO similar?

Louise They are inspired by the same phone booth, but The Phone Booth in Mr. Hirota's Garden is a children's book and The Phone Booth at the Edge of the World is a 400-page adult literary novel. The latter (being much longer and for an older audience) goes far deeper into the characters' stories and their journeys through their processes of grieving and rebuilding their lives. So no, I wouldn't say they are too similar. But if you like the theme of one, you'll probably like the other. In both stories you will find people who are drawn to the phone booth because they are longing to connect with the loved ones they've lost.
